The Department of Mechanical Engineering at North Dakota State University is seeking candidates for a Post-Doctoral appointment working in the area of advanced composite additive manufacturing. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting cutting-edge research on the development and testing of advanced composite additive manufacturing systems and techniques. The successful candidates will work closely with Dr. Chad A. Ulven from the Mechanical Engineering Department at NDSU.
Work Schedule:
Full-time, 40hrs/wk, 12 month contract.
Advertised Salary:
$45,000+ based on experience and qualifications.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Ph.D. in the field of Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or closely related fields.
• Strong background and research experience in the development of composite materials and additive manufacturing.
• Proficiency in a wide range of analytical techniques used for composite materials characterization, such as load frames, thermo-mechanical (e.g., DMA, DSC), microscopy (e.g., SEM, TEM), and rheology.
• Knowledge of polymer chemistry and polymerization techniques, including crosslinking and copolymerization strategies.
• Knowledge of different types of composite material reinforcement and processing strategies.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to present complex scientific concepts effectively.
• Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research team.
• Prior experience in mentoring and supervising students is an advantage.
