Position Information
Conducts land use, housing and environmental surveys and studies; collects, compiles and analyzes social, economic and physical data; prepares reports and graphic illustrations; gathers background data for the review and analysis of zoning or subdivision applications; and performs other related duties as required.
Current Vacancies:
  • There is one (1) vacancy with the Department of Planning and Permitting's Site Development Division. This position independently performs technical research and analytical work in support of professional planning work. The position is responsible for reviewing and evaluating routine and slightly complex applications for subdivision, site development, consolidation, and park dedication (generally involving up to four (4) lots) for compliance with Department of Planning and Permitting (DPP) ordinances, and rules and regulations; reviewing routine and slightly complex construction and grading plans for compliance with applicable zoning, subdivision and flood hazard requirements; reviews and evaluates comments from other agencies and departments on routine to slightly complex subdivision, site development and consolidation applications to determine whether applications are in compliance with the requirements of each of the agencies affected and with applicable DPP ordinances, and rules and regulations; and conducts research, investigates and analyzes application data to be used in the evaluation of slightly complex development proposals, including grading, in flood hazard districts.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Equivalent to graduation from a regionally accredited college or university with major work in city planning, sociology, business or public administration or a related field.
Education obtained outside of the United States must be comparable to a degree earned at a regionally-accredited college/university in the United States. In order to receive credit for the education, a foreign credential evaluation (FCE) must be provided. We also reserve the right to request further information about your academic program, evidence of comparability, or an original transcript.

Work experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis. Such experience must have provided the knowledge, skills, and analytical ability normally gained from attainment of a bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
One (1) year of research or analytical experience in social, economic or community development programs.
Such experience must have demonstrated knowledge of research methods and statistical procedures; standard sources and uses of socio-economic information; socio-economic problems and conditions; basic objectives and principles of community planning; and the ability to conduct research and statistical studies; collect, classify and analyze statistical data; prepare tables, charts and graphs; and prepare clear and concise reports.
Substitution: A Master's degree in Urban and Regional Planning, Social Sciences, Business Administration, Public Administration or a related field from a regionally accredited college or university may be substituted for the required one year of professional work experience in research or analytical experience in social, economic or community development programs.
