BWC is currently operating under a hybrid schedule that may incorporate both teleworking and in-person office hours. Employees must be able to report to the office when requested by management &/or for their initial job training.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Serves as the workforce safety innovation planner and conducts planning and assessment activities to enhance and implement safety services and initiatives provided by the Center;
  • Develops evaluation and effectiveness measures, conducts needs assessments, maintains grant life cycle planning, facilitates after action reviews, and drafts corrective action plans and improvement plans;
  • Conducts technical review and evaluation of Workforce Safety Innovation grant applications, requirements, and deliverables (e.g., project plans and reports, etc.) submitted to BWC for funding and recommends necessary revisions or special conditions for funding; researches and prepares correspondence in response to technical inquiries;
  • Maintains a repository of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Personal Protective Technology (PPT), and other WSIC resources; verifies PPE/PPT requirements to assure project compliance; identifies best practices and recommends PPE/PPT innovation needs using appropriate methods and technology;
  • Assists with maintenance of grant guidelines, standards, forms, templates, policies, and procedures; drafts supporting materials, and updates operations manual.

Qualifications


To Qualify, You Must
Clearly Demonstrate:
Completion of undergraduate core program or 24 mos. exp. in assigned program area (e.g., engineering, landscape architecture, rehabilitation, mental health technology, transportation, physical, behavioral & social science, urban or community planning, natural resources, business or public administration); 9 mos. trg. or 9 mos. exp. in operational, mathematical, analytical or statistical research methods used in conducting & documenting research studies; 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in public relations; 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in budgeting; 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in technical writing or business communication.
Or 6 mos. exp. as Planner 2, 85312, in assigned program area.
Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.

BWC OCSEA Selection Rights:

This position shall be filled in accordance with the provisions of the OCSEA Collective Bargaining Agreement. BWC bargaining unit members have selection rights before non-bargaining unit members. All other applications will only be considered if an internal bargaining unit applicant is not selected for this position.

Salary Information:
Hourly wage is expected to be paid at step 1 of the pay range associated with the position for candidates who are new employees of the state. Current employees of the state will be placed in the appropriate step based on any applicable union contract and/or requirements of the Ohio Revised Code. Movement to the next step of the pay range (a roughly 4% increase) will occur after six months, assuming job performance is acceptable. Thereafter, an employee will advance one step in the pay range every year until the highest step of the pay range is reached. There may also be possible cost of living adjustments (COLA) and longevity supplements begin after five (5) years of state service.

Transportation:
Position may require travel; therefore, persons occupying this position must be able to provide own transportation &/or legally operate a state-owned vehicle.
Educational Transcripts:
For any educational achievements to be considered during the screening process, you must at least attach an unofficial transcript that details the coursework you have completed.
