SUMMARY:

An integrated member of the Real Salt Lake Sports Medicine team, the Physical Therapist/Athletic Trainer will provide daily, on-site, evidence-based physical therapy and athletic training services to the athletes of RSL. Utilizing a collaborative approach, alongside a multi-disciplined staff, provide therapy at the state-of-the-art, RSL Zion’s Bank Training Center in Herriman, UT.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• Provide Physical Therapy and Athletic Training services utilizing evidence-based methods for long-term rehabilitation (non-surgical) and post-surgical athletes.
• Provide high-level, individually-based rehab programs for athletes.
• Provide/collaborate/participate in return to training (RTT) and return to play (RTP) programs in conjunction with medical/performance staff.
• Provide and collaborate/participate in injury prevention programs with medical/performance staff.
• Serve as an Assistant Athletic Trainer with RSL attending all home games (some travel is required)
• Administer Athletic Trainers with daily treatments/practice duties as available.
• Assist medical/performance staff in physical assessments/profiling/routine objective measurements designed to maximize player performance.
• Manage medical record keeping of all athletes treated, including regular communication with Athletic Trainers with each respective team. Utilization of electronic medical records.
• Participate in staff in-service seminars to educate other staff members in area of expertise.
• Maintain continuing education requirements of both Physical Therapy and Athletic Training certification boards.
• Attend league medical meetings as required.
• Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Dual credentialed in Physical Therapy and Athletic Training
• Postgraduate degree in physical therapy from an accredited university,
• Undergraduate/graduate degree in Athletic Training (or related field leading to certification) from an accredited university
• BOC certified Athletic Trainer (mandatory, must be dual credentialled)
• Eligible for Utah state license in Physical Therapy and Athletic Training
• Potential for travel up to 50% of team travel schedule
• Able to pass a background check and become SafeSport certified
• Other duties as assigned

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Doctorate preferred
• Team sports experience, soccer preferred
• 1-3 years experience
• Experience utilizing the latest rehab technologies and techniques
• Spanish-bilingual

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The job requires regularly lifting/pushing up to 50 pounds and occasionally lifting/pushing more than 50 pounds or exerting heavy force in a wide disparity or environmental conditions. The job involves standing, stooping, bending, lifting, pushing etc.
