Position Description
Photo and Video Specialist Position Overview:
The Photo and Video Specialist is responsible for capturing and editing images of events, projects and staff to help tell the story of the Harris County Department of Engineering. Content would be leveraged for department website, social media, newsletters, brochures, signage, fliers and other media. In addition to a strong attention to detail, the candidate must be adept at juggling multiple assignments and producing high quality work under tight deadlines.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- As part of the Communications Division, the Photo and Video Specialist plays a pivotal role in visually capturing and showcasing our work for internal communications, recruiting and community outreach.
- Plan, shoot, and edit videos, maintaining the highest production standards, using industry-standard equipment and software to ensure the best visual and audio quality.
- Edit and enhance raw footage and photos, applying color correction, audio adjustments and effects as needed.
- Document department events through photography and Videography to create promotional and informative content.
- Conduct interviews with department staff to gather insights and testimonials to help tell our story. Edit and incorporate these interviews to provide a comprehensive perspective.
- Create visual concepts for campaigns, which may include digital ads, training and social media assets.
- Properly analyze, assess and respond to client needs and deliver exceptional service as well as bold Photo and Video concepts.
- Adhere to copyright and licensing regulations when using third-party media assets in videos.
- Continuously monitor and review video content to maintain consistency in style, tone, and quality across all projects.
- Organize and maintain a library of video assets for easy access and retrieval and ensure the security and backup of video files to prevent data loss.
- Train staff to assist with photography and Video as needed.

Requirements
Education:
- Associate’s degree from an accredited college in multimedia/digital communication, film production, visual communication or a related field.
- Two (2) years of progressively responsible work experience with major responsibilities: producing, directing, shooting and/or editing video productions
- Proven experience with professional photography, including shooting and editing photos.
- Proficiency in video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or similar tools.
- Proficiency with photo editing software such as Adobe Photoshop.
- Knowledge of still and Video camera equipment, lighting and sound recording techniques.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Expert working knowledge of video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro or similar tools.
- Expert working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop.

Preferences
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in multimedia/digital communication, film production, visual communication or a related field.
Experience:
- Four (4) years of progressively responsible professional work experience with major responsibilities: producing, directing, shooting and editing video productions.
- Experience operating a drone for gathering professional Photo and Video.
