SUMMARY:

We are seeking a highly qualified individual with relevant experience for a position in our research toxicology and informatics group, who shares the passion of our core principles and culture. Successful candidates will be skilled in analytical/quantitative thinking and knowledgeable in the development of Scientific Software. As a Scientific Software Developer, your mission is to create, grow, and improve software resources that enable sustained improvement of the Ionis drug platform.
The selected candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary and highly innovative team designing and implementing tools to support our drug discovery efforts. Work will include building cloud-based data and API services and delivering rich data-driven user-interfaces for the interrogation of complex biological and chemical datasets. REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s Degree; advanced degree in related field preferred
• At least 3+ years software development experience
• Experience using version control systems and project management tools (Git and Jira)
• Proficient with modern programming languages (JavaScript, Python, or Java)
• Knowledge of modern web frameworks (Angular, Express, or React)
• Experience with relational (Postgres, Oracle SQL) and non-relational (DynamoDB) databases
• Strong Linux skills
• Must have excellent communication and requirement gathering skills
• An ability to be productive and successful in an intense work environment
• Able to learn new technologies quickly and jump in anywhere in our stack

• Maintain and optimizing the current software infrastructure essential for supporting in vivo research and development activities. This includes overseeing data management systems and ensuring scalability to accommodate expanding projects
• Develop new software tools for various research teams (medicinal chemists, biologists, computational biologists, and toxicologists) that aid in data capture and improves the use of internal and external data sources
• Enhance data access using tools like RESTful API’s and modern web UI/UX frameworks
• Work with end-users to troubleshoot and/or design and prioritize feature enhancements to existing tools
