Job description

The Individual Giving team is dedicated to securing philanthropic gifts in support of The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center's initiatives across all segments of individual donors supporting the institution. An integral part of the Individual Giving Team business model is planning and implementing investigation, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship strategies for all constituents and stakeholders (new and established) for the purpose of executing on those strategies with precision and excellence thereby securing philanthropic gifts.
MD Anderson Cancer Center is seeking a Philanthropy Administrator. The Philanthropy Administrator will provide highly organized, coordinated, and collaborative programmatic support and project execution for the fundraising operations of Individual Giving Team Major Gift squads, as well as provide high-level administrative support to two squad leaders. This administrative support includes scheduling and calendar management, communication with internal and external stakeholders, timely fundraising moves management data entry, tracking progress towards fundraising metrics, travel planning and expense management.
In addition, this position partners with the squad leaders in the management of their individual portfolios of prospects and leads, ensuring assignments are engaged at each step of the donor investigation, qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship cycle. The Philanthropy Administrator will utilize resourcefulness and relationship building with internal stakeholders throughout the division and greater institution for the execution of portfolio management and donor engagement support duties. This position will work closely with the division's service line members to ensure all correspondence, proposal and stewardship actions are planned for, executed and delivered with the highest quality and attention to detail, precision and strategic impact for two squads.
The Philanthropy Administrator will also partner closely with the Director, Philanthropy (Individual Giving) to provide a steady flow of information regarding squad forecasting, strategy meetings, goal setting meetings and other reporting needs as a representative of the squad's output and ensure squad members have awareness of Individual Giving operational procedures and the squads' operational needs are being met.
As the squad's senior support professional, the Philanthropy Administrator will also utilize influence and planning skills to provide backup coverage to fellow-squad member support professionals, as well as plan and coordinate all site visits for the squad leaders and on an as-needed basis for assistant directors.
The Philanthropy Administrator will also coordinate squad-level initiatives and other special projects related to the work of the Individual Giving team.
KEY FUNCTIONS
Philanthropic Business Support - 50%
This position supports donor relationship development activities, tracking and delivery of strategy. The successful candidate possesses knowledge of fundraising operations, donor stages and life cycle, moves management and engagement activities. This position requires the ability to anticipate next steps and prepare accordingly, ability to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders and proactively approach one's work. Organizational, time management and event coordination skills are critical to the role as well as detailed focus with proficient writing and proofreading skills. The Philanthropy Administrator must have the ability to prioritize the care of donors and knowledge of when and how to request and coordinate services from internal partners for report generation, donor prospect research, donor prospect management and donor communications.
Team Operations (Squad Operations) - 30%
Oversee team/squad-level administrative processes and operation workflows (including system process design, implementation and evaluation), tracking of metrics and output reporting (including fundraising activity data input and integrity validation), budget compliance and training/continuing education of operations applications.
Project Coordination - 20%
Successfully execute and complete project requirements for various team/squad-level initiatives, keeping all stakeholders apprised of progress with satisfactory deliverables.
EDUCATION
Required: Bachelor's degree in Business, Communications, Marketing, English, Journalism or related field.
EXPERIENCE
Required: Three years of direct experience in development operations. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis.
Preferred: Experience in Individual Giving, knowledgeable of portfolio-based fundraising and one+ years supervisory experience.
