OVERVIEW
Founded in 1947 by Nina Vance, the Alley Theatre is a pioneer of regional theatre, and one of the leading nonprofit theatre companies in the United States. JOB STATEMENT
The Individual Giving Associate plays a significant role in the cultivation and stewardship of all Alley Theatre donors and prospects. This person will be responsible for the planning and execution of patron events throughout the year and will oversee the Alley Theatre's annual stewardship strategy and calendar of activities, increasing donor engagement.
JOB DUTIES
  • Assist in the coordination and implementation of Alley patron events, such as CenterStage Dinners, Board Dinners, Artistic Director's Circle Salon Events, and others. Duties include creating and mailing invitations, managing RSVPs, coordinating event logistics, attending the events, etc.
  • Implement stewardship and cultivation steps for all donors who give up to $1,500 annually. Duties include:
    • Working with Alley Gift Officers, Individual Giving Committee members, telefunding agents, and others to conduct thank you calls and send out thank you note cards.
    • Send follow-up thank you emails to all who attended a patron event.
    • Under the direction of the Director of Individual Giving, create and distribute quarterly stewardship emails to current and lapsed donors.
  • Manage a portfolio of 40 individual donors who have the capacity to give up to $2,500 annually.
  • Execute solicitation calls and renewals for donors giving up to $1,500 annually.
  • Responsible for the annual Sustainer program
    • Increasing the number of annual sustainers through emails, phone calls, and direct mail
    • Stewarding current Sustainers with emails and phone calls
    • Creating and maintaining current Sustainer reports
    • Maintaining and refreshing website verbiage as it relates to the Sustainer program
  • Generate distribution lists for Individual Giving communications, such as weekly Alley Newsletter and patron event invitations.
  • Assist in coordination of Individual Giving Committee activities, such as sending out Connie and Roger Plank Family Greenroom schedules and preparing for meetings.
  • Attend other patron events throughout the year to ensure that all donors are properly cultivated.
  • Undertake Greenroom duty as required by all department members.
  • Actively participate in proofing of the annual report and Playbills.

REQUIREMENTS (SKILLS and KNOWLEDGE):
  • Demonstrate, through past experience, broad knowledge of development techniques (i.e. identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship)
  • Excellent communication skills demonstrating ability to prepare and present both formal written and oral presentations.
  • Requires strong collaboration skills in order to work effectively across the organization and function consistently as a highly valued and high performing team player within the Development department and the organization.
  • A demonstrated ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Flexibility to work patron and special events that occur occasionally on evenings and weekends.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to lift and move 25 lbs.
  • Must be comfortable working in a fast paced environment where directions and priorities can change rapidly.
  • Typical hours are during the day, but the position requires the flexibility to be available for weekend, holidays and evening work hours as needed.
