The Individual Giving Manager is responsible for managing specific fundraising initiatives directed toward individual donors to achieve revenue goals associated with an integrated Advancement strategy. They will oversee solicitation, stewardship, and program operations with a commitment to ensuring consistent donor experiences and connecting donors with the most impactful giving opportunities across the Zoo.
While this position interacts with and supports multiple giving programs, it has direct responsibility for building strategy and coordinating campaigns related to initiatives including (but not limited to) the Adopt an Animal Program, various Annual Fund initiatives, Tribute Giving, and conservation fundraising under the direction of the Senior Director of Individual Giving and Membership. The primary focus of this role is operational and strategic, however, it is expected to provide exceptional customer service to donors at all levels, assist in relationship building, and will eventually oversee a small portfolio of donors giving $1,000-$15,000 per year.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESDevelops and deploys highly segmented acquisition, renewal, and upgrade campaigns for multiple initiatives simultaneously. Leads execution of campaigns across all channels, ranging in scale from paid social media and to highly individualized solicitation letters. Writes compelling content, designed to be effective for each specific channel.
Coordinates the logistics of all individual donor acknowledgement and benefit fulfillment with various staff. Ensures that gifts are appropriately recognized and recorded, that benefits are fulfilled in a timely manner, and that communications are personalized whenever possible.
Consistently analyzes program impacts and donor satisfaction, developing tests and improvements. Tracks revenue and expenses for assigned areas. Creates and regularly provides timely reporting and analysis as requested.
Provides exceptional customer service to all donors, ensuring they are connected with the most appropriate giving opportunity. Builds and maintains relationships with program-specific donors and coordinates giving across programs with prompt, accurate, personal communication.
Leads reimagining and restructure of specific programs or campaigns when appropriate. Works across teams to test and implement improvements to every element of program structure including giving levels, database operations, donor experience (mail, email, web, onsite), communications, and reporting.
Participates in developing and coordinating execution of broad stewardship communications as well as specialized stewardship plans for specific donor segments, including regular phone contact, personalized correspondence, hosting donors on tours, and other cultivation activities.
Serves as a leader for the onsite membership team, supporting day-to-day member customer service, staffing the membership booth when necessary and keeping onsite membership staff informed about, and trained to support, Individual Giving initiatives.
Works with the Prospect Researcher and the Database Specialist to conduct prospect research and segment prospects and donor constituents for specific annual solicitations and events.
Coordinates with the Membership Director, Event Manager and other cross-divisional staff to execute all details of initiative-specific events including invitations. Attends all initiative-specific events as well as President's Circle events, most general member events, Zoo To Do gala, and public events with stewardship or prospecting potential (generally 2-3 per month).
Serves as collaborative liaison to the Conservation Team to achieve restricted fundraising goals. Work across teams and divisions to align strategy related to conservation fundraising solicitations and stewardship while presenting a unified experience to individual donors.
Works closely with Advancement Services to implement and maintain best practices for assigned initiatives and other giving programs as necessary.
Supports and assists in thorough coordination of broader Advancement Division solicitation efforts including appeals to general members and ticket purchasers and specialized efforts directed toward high-level donors. Consistently documents and regularly communicates with Advancement Division colleagues about strategies in order to maximize revenue and provide consistent donor experiences.
Responsible for achieving designated annual financial goals.
Supports the greater efforts of the Membership Team, Advancement team and of the Dallas Zoo.
Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
A Bachelor's degree or equivalent educational background, equivalent experience will be considered
Three-to-five years of relevant multi-channel campaign management experience, preferably with a nonprofit organization.
Strong organizational ability and experience managing multiple, complex, deadline-driven projects at once.
Experience utilizing a CRM (Tessitura experience preferred) and a willingness and ability to become a subject matter expert in Tessitura, utilizing it in a daily way for moves management, detailed relationship tracking, and reporting.
Strong understanding of professional discretion when trusted with sensitive donor information and interaction with the Zoo's highest-level donors and volunteers.
Strong interpersonal and presentation skills. Excellent customer service skills. Willingness and desire to interact with donors and manage relationships.
Strategic problem-solver and willing and active collaborator with the ability to advance programs/activities with an array of internal constituents. Strong team player.
Proven writing and editing skills, preferably with experience generating compelling content for direct donor communications, including personalized correspondence.
Excellent attention to detail and diligence to ensure accuracy
Sound judgment and the ability to quickly and effectively solve problems.
Ability to think creatively and remain flexible.
Command of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Preferred: An underlying understanding of compelling graphic design and experience interacting with mid and upper level donors.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Periodically works irregular hours, including weekends and some nights.
Ability to work indoors and outdoors with exposure to cold and heat.
Ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work. This may involve standing and/or walking for long periods of time, some lifting, carrying, moving, pushing, and/or pulling of objects/materials weighing up to 30 pounds.
Must be able to follow oral and written instructions.
Must have a valid driver's license with reliable transportation
