Come and be part of our team where you will serve as a Pharmacy Technician and provide clerical support for the Purdue University Pharmacy. This position will assist pharmacists with daily tasks including, but not limited to, filling prescriptions, maintaining drug inventory, handling 3rd party insurance claims processing, training and assisting new employees and pharmacy students, and performing clerical work such as cash handling, daily deposits, and preparing reports and invoices for billing. You will also assist with other tasks assigned by the Director or other pharmacists.
This position is a day shift position with no nights or weekends.
The Purdue University Pharmacy is located in Room 118 of the Robert E. Heine Pharmacy Building - next to the Purdue University Student Health (PUSH) Center - so you don't ever need to leave campus. The pharmacy offers a variety of clinical services, including routine vaccinations, flu shots, and tobacco cessation counseling. We also offer a variety of affordable, non-prescription, over-the-counter (OTC) medications. The pharmacy also has eight vending machines located on campus to provide 24/7 access to various over-the-counter items. Our facility offers a hands-on learning laboratory for Purdue pharmacy students, who work side-by-side with professional pharmacists. Each prescription filled by a Purdue student pharmacist is carefully checked by a licensed and registered pharmacist.
Education and Experience:
- High School Degree or GED
- Three (3) years of experience
- Indiana Pharmacy Technician License required
Skills Needed:
- Excellent customer service, verbal, and written communication skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills and attention to detail
- Computer and related software skills, including but not limited to, Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet, etc.
- Basic typing and proofreading skills
- Ability to:
- identify problems and recommend solutions
- handle frequent interruptions, balance multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality
- Strong mathematical calculation skills
