Pharmacy Technician

Position Overview:
As a Pharmacy Technician at Walmart, you will play a crucial role in assisting the pharmacists and ensuring the efficient and accurate operation of the pharmacy department. You will be responsible for various tasks related to prescription processing, customer service, inventory management, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment. Your exceptional attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and dedication to providing exceptional customer service will contribute to the success of the pharmacy team.

Responsibilities:

1. Prescription Processing:
- Accurately and efficiently enter prescription information into the pharmacy system.
- Verify insurance coverage and process insurance claims.
- Assist in filling prescriptions by counting pills, measuring liquids, and labeling medication containers.
- Package and prepare prescriptions for pickup or delivery.

2. Customer Service:
- Greet customers and provide friendly and professional assistance.
- Answer customer inquiries regarding medication availability, pricing, and insurance coverage.
- Provide accurate information on over-the-counter products and recommend suitable alternatives as necessary.
- Assist in resolving customer concerns and complaints in a timely and courteous manner.

3. Inventory Management:
- Receive and stock incoming medications and supplies.
- Monitor inventory levels and notify the pharmacist when medication stock is low.
- Rotate stock to ensure the oldest medications are dispensed first.
- Assist in the return and disposal of expired or damaged medications.

4. Administrative Tasks:
- Maintain accurate patient records and confidentiality.
- Process and maintain appropriate paperwork for prescription refills, transfers, and consultations.
- Assist in maintaining pharmacy equipment and supplies, ensuring they are clean and in good working order.
- Adhere to all Walmart pharmacy policies and procedures, as well as federal and state regulations.

5. Collaboration:
- Work closely and effectively with the pharmacy team to ensure smooth operations and workflow.
- Communicate with healthcare professionals, insurance companies, and suppliers as necessary.
- Collaborate with the pharmacist to identify potential drug interactions or errors in prescriptions.

Requirements:

- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a recognized Pharmacy Technician training program or certification is preferred.
- Previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician is an asset.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Proficient computer skills and ability to learn pharmacy systems.
- Understanding of medical and pharmaceutical terminology.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Willingness to adhere to all applicable regulations and guidelines.

Working Conditions:
- This position may require standing for extended periods.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
- Flexible availability, including weekends and evenings, is required.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $15.00 - $19.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10 – 30 per week
