- Three (3) years of experience working as a registered Pharmacy Technician in retail or specialty pharmacy
- Incumbents in this class must possess and maintain Pharmacy Technician certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the National Health Career Association (NHCA)
- Incumbents must possess and maintain CT Pharmacy Technician registration with the Department of Consumer Protection
- Incumbents in this class may be required to travel, possess, and retain a valid motor vehicle driver license
- Experience in the coordination of an inpatient hospital pharmacy
- IV and chemo admixture experience
- Considerable knowledge of and ability to ensure clean room environments are within control through regulatory monitoring as outlined in USP 797 regulations
- Experience in the coordination, oversight, and quality monitoring of patient-specific medication supply utilization, including appropriate receipt, storage, billing, documentation, and disposal of said medications
- Plans pharmacy support staff workflow and determines priorities
- Schedules, assigns, oversees and reviews work
- Establishes and maintains pharmacy support staff procedures
- Provides staff training and assistance
- Conducts or assists in performance evaluations
- Troubleshoot and reconcile service issues
- Ensure all Pharmacy Technicians complete/obtain annual Certification/Registration
- Monitors and participates in maintaining staff competencies
- Assists in maintaining regulatory readiness
- Acts as liaison with operating units, agencies and outside officials regarding unit policies and procedures
- Participates in ensuring pharmacy quality assurance standards are maintained and safety related policies and procedures are implemented and followed
- Ensures proper receipt and Inventory for controlled substances
- Analyzes daily compare report to ensure accurate receipt to designated location
- Investigate all controlled substance discrepancy resolutions and non-resolutions
- Prepares unresolved discrepancy reports
- Monitors filing and storage/security access for controlled substance returns to C-II safe
- Assists Pharmacist in narcotic drug control management
- Performs electronic reconciliation of drug receipts, e.g., 340B program
- Reviews prescription charges for accuracy
- Performs Pharmacy Technician duties and related duties as required
- Performs electronic reconciliation of drug receipts, e.g., Wholesale, Pyxis
- Handles hazardous products under URAC standards as needed
