The Sterile ProductsPharmacy Technicians assist Pharmacists in the preparation of non-hazardous and hazardous (oncology) sterile medications. Responsibilities include but, are not limited to the following:
- Prepares non-hazardous sterile product preparations (e.g. IV medications) adhering to department SOPs.
- Prepares hazardous sterile product preparations (e.g. chemo therapy medications) using all appropriate personal protective equipment adhering to department SOPs.
- Properly uses all IV room equipment to prepare assigned compounds in a sterile environment.
- Assists with cleaning of IV and anterooms as assigned.
- Records all required environmental monitoring of IV workspace as assigned
- Restocks IV rooms with an appropriate amount of supplies to meet USP standards and expectations as assigned.
- Maintains skill and competency in sterile product preparation by completing required education modules and required testing.
Qualifications
Experience:
Prior experience in a sterile compounding environment is strongly preferred.
Education:
- High School Diploma required or equivalent.
- Completion of Pharmacy Technician program in preferred.
Licenses/Certifications:
- Current National Pharmacy Technician Certification is strongly preferred.
- Pharmacy registration with Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection within 30 days of hire and by March 31st of each year.
