About the Role
We are seeking an PFAS Program Manager to independently manage the execution of our emerging contaminants program (specifically PFAS) and support our ongoing contracts with government and private clients. This includes remediation and investigation work conducted by Tanaq Environmental, LLC (TEL) for US government clients nationwide. This position reports to the General Manager and is a senior leader in the company.
The PFAS Program Manager role is a 100% remote position that can be based anywhere in the U.S and requires approximately 30% travel.
Responsibilities

- Responsible for successful oversight of all elements of contract scopes of work (SOWs), including development of and adherence to project schedules and budgets.
- Supervises a team of TEL project managers and technical staff to develop technical approaches and cost proposals in response to client requests for proposals (RFPs), supports management team throughout negotiations of new contracts and/or task orders, and leads teams of project professionals, technicians, and support staff throughout the execution of contracts. Scopes generally include, but not limited to, planning document preparations, field investigations, remediation efforts, data analysis and evaluation, remedial action planning, system design (as appropriate), long-term monitoring (LTM) and/or long-term operations (LTO) and maintenance, and final reporting.
- Serves as the primary point of contact (POC) for assigned government client(s) and ensures all client expectations are met or exceeded. Identifies work requests or requirements that are outside the contract, and immediately communicates out-of-scope items to the client and to the General Manager.
- Coordinates with corporate and project-level safety and quality management staff to ensure all contracts are conducted in accordance with applicable safety and quality standards. Identifies safety and quality issues regarding contract execution and, when necessary, develops and implements corrective actions.
- As a critical part of the Tanaq Environmental leadership team, reports directly to the general manager and, with the other Program Managers, takes a broader look at the entire business line to assist in developing budgets, strategic goals, and long-term growth strategies.
- Achieves annual revenue, utilization, and sales goals, and sets similar goals for direct reports.
- Conduct regular outreach to program personnel, including one-on-one, program-level team meetings, and counseling sessions, including 2nd tier staffing under PMs.
- Supports marketing and business development through identification of new target clients, tracking of opportunities, relationship management with existing clients, JV teams, & partners, and support or leadership of proposal efforts.
- Serves as capture manager for major proposals associated with key clients.
Required Experience and Skills
- Minimum 15 years of experience in environmental consulting; additional years of experience preferred.
- Minimum 8 years of project management experience with demonstrated ability to see projects through successful completion.
- Experience as project or client manager for US Army Corps of Engineers, US Air Force, US Navy, EPA, or other major government agency conducting environmental restoration or compliance strongly preferred.
- Must have strong prior technical experience with the PFAS group of chemicals related to Department of Defense (DoD) clients.
- Experience leading proposal/capture efforts for federal agencies. Strong working relationship with federal clients and/or agencies required.
- Self-driven with ability to proactively manage contracts, with experience leading cross-functional teams in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
- Must possess a valid driver's license with a clear and satisfactory driving record.
Tanaq Environmental, LLC, with headquarters in Anchorage AK and a Program Management Office in Denver CO, supports major project operations in AL, AK, AZ, CA, CO, FL, GA, IL, KS, MD, MO, MS, NV, OH, OK, TX, VA, and WA. Staff are in disperse locations supporting projects nationwide.
Education and Training
- Bachelor’s degree in technical area of expertise from accredited institution. Master’s degree preferred.
- Professional Licensure (PE, PG) is required; PE preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Must be willing and able to travel 30% to visit job sites, attend client meetings, etc.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- May need to lift 25 pounds occasionally.
