Position Summary: The Personal Support 1:1 Direct Support Professional (DSP) is responsible for the well-being of the person they support, ensuring they are part of an inclusive and respectful environment. DSPs are responsible for providing essential assistance to enable the supported person to actively participate in their preferred surroundings and communities. These forms of support will be administered with the utmost dignity and consideration for the supported person's preferences.
This approach aligns with the principles and guidelines of The Arc Northern Chesapeake Region, Inc., as well as adhering to the regulations mandated by the State of Maryland and Federal laws and policies. Your Role: Agrees to uphold the mission of the organization by empowering the people supported to live, work, and thrive in the desired manner, and the person-centered philosophy. Assist individuals supported with personal care such as toileting, feeding, hygiene, etc., as needed.
Assist the people supported with daily living skills such as meal planning & preparation, shopping, grooming, job skills, home maintenance & cleaning, etc. If applicable, guide individuals supported in following specific dietary guidelines. Assist and set the example for people supported with understanding good hygiene, appropriate dress, and proper social interaction while in their home, out in the community, or in work settings.
Assist with scheduling and transporting the people supported to community events, socials, worksites, and other appointments. Maintain residence and ensure a clean and safe environment for the people supported and other staff members. Complete daily documentation, including but not limited to communication logs, medication logs, and behavioral logs.
If applicable, administer medications timely to all people supported and notify nursing staff of any concerns. Assist people supported with financial guidance such as budgeting, planning, banking, and related documentation. Follow the person-centered/no restraint philosophy, and the mission of The Arc Northern Chesapeake Region are always upheld.
Assists in developing, guiding, and executing supported person(s) Plans (IPs). Reviews and follow all Behavioral Plans (BPs) Reports any instances of abuse and neglect immediately. Complete any Incident Reports in a timely manner necessary to document instances serious in nature.
Education, Training and Experience required: High School Diploma or equivalent is required Two (2) years experience in a residential setting is preferred CNA/GNA Certification preferred CPR and First Aid Certifications preferred Access to reliable transportation Active valid drivers license and driving record that has no more than two (2) points Maintenance of all required trainings under DDA guidelines and The Arc Northern Chesapeake Region policies and procedures Flexibility of scheduling to meet agency and program needs Salary: From $18.00 per hour Schedule: Mulitple schedules are avaiable and vary per location with the ability to pickup additional shifts.
