ABOUT EMPLOYER:
Lorem Ipsum Enterprises (https://www.lor-ips.com) is based in Boston Massachusetts and does business with, contracts with, and is part of the Massachusetts state government’s Personal Care Attendant (“PCA”) program (https://www.mass.gov/masshealth-personal-care-attendant-pca-program). Massachusetts provides government funds to the aforementioned PCA program to empower disabled people to live a normal life in the broader community. This means they are no longer limited to or confined in hospitals, nursing homes, and other private or public institutions. This goal is accomplished by providing disabled people with the services of privately employed Home Health Aides, Certified Nursing Assistants, and Personal Care Assistants at home, regardless of where that home may be.
The concept of Home Health Aides, Certified Nursing Assistants, and Personal Care Assistants and genesis for PCA programs was born out of the independent living movement that began in the state of California in the 1970s (https://www.nilp.org/history-of-independent-living-movement/). This reform movement subsequently spread to many other states. The state of Massachusetts formed its PCA program–that Lorem Ipsum Enterprises does business, contracts, and partners with–by state legislation in 1974. Since that time–for almost fifty (50) years–Massachusetts’ government-funded PCA program has empowered disabled people to live a normal life in the broader community without being confined. Over the years, the Massachusetts government-funded PCA program shifted to give disabled individuals–referred to as “consumers”–more control over what is done with the government funds. Currently, under the PCA program, consumers/disabled people operate as incorporated or unincorporated businesses–in this case Lorem Ipsum Enterprises–that use the government funds to recruit, hire, train, schedule, and direct employees.
Lorem Ipsum Enterprises consistently employs a regular staff of Home Health Aides, Certified Nursing Assistants, and Personal Care Assistants. Due to the needs of the business, we hire between twenty (20) to thirty (30) employees each year.
