Job description

Apply by January 25, 2024 for full consideration.

Oregon State University’s (OSU) Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS) is developing and launching an exciting new Peer Support program entitled the Beavers Belong Support Network. This program is student-centered and decentralized in an effort to provide students with a space to engage with others who understand their unique perspectives and struggles and build community together. The Peer Support Coordinator will assist in the development of this program as well as serve as the point person for training and supporting Student Leaders engaged in providing Peer Support. The goals of this program are to increase belonging and connection between students, provide support in ways that students feel are helpful in spaces they feel comfortable, and positively impact the personal well-being of both Student Leaders and participants.

The Peer Support Coordinator position is a 12-month full-time position with dual reporting lines and support from the Executive Director of Counseling & Psychological Services and the Director of Mental Health Promotion of Counseling & Psychological Services. The primary purpose of this position is to enhance student success by developing and coordinating the Beavers Belong Support Network and to provide direct clinical and counseling services, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of students. In addition, this position provides consultation to OSU community members, preventative and educational outreach initiatives, and training of pre-doctoral interns.

The position relates to the university’s mission by enhancing connections between students, and directly intervening with students to help them manage problems or skill deficits that may otherwise lead them to withdraw from school or cause disruptions in other areas of the university. This position works collaboratively and cooperatively with community and university agencies that serve students.

OSU is an affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity employer, and strongly encourage applications from members of historically underrepresented racial/ethnic groups, women, individuals with disabilities, veterans, LGBTQ+ community members, and others who demonstrate the ability to help us achieve our vision of a diverse and inclusive community.
