The Veterans Independence Program (VIP) provides veterans who need in-home care to hire Personal Care Attendants (PCA) in order to meet the unique needs of the person served. As a PCA working in this position, you will work to support and assist a middle aged female disabled veteran with her daily activities.
Some of these duties include, but are not limited to:
- Assistance with completing personal hygiene tasks, such as bathing, grooming, and dressing
- Help with meal planning and preparation
- Assistance with organization of medications
- Light housekeeping tasks, such as cleaning kitchens, bathrooms, and doing laundry
- Go out into the community to various appointments and personal outings for enrichment
- Offer emotional support and companionship
The right fit for this position will have:
- Experience working with people with mental health issues or an understanding of mental health issues
- Empathy, compassion, patience, and understanding for people who require physical or mental care
- The ability to follow specific instructions and work independently
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Flexibility regarding scheduling
This position is slotted to be 10+ hours per week, with flexibility in scheduling between late morning through the afternoon, with the potential for additional hours if a good fit is found. We look forward to reading through your application should you choose to apply.
