Our Payroll Specialist is a newly created position that will be responsible for all aspects of the payroll system. Working closely with Director of Finance and HR to be sure that payroll is run on time and accurately. Systemically audits various components of the system including data, expenses, time off, deductions etc. Assists with accounting and administrative duties in the finance department as time allows.
Specific duties include:
- Process payroll for our organization's employees on a regular basis, including affiliated organizations.
- Confirm accuracy of payroll calculations for employee earnings, bonuses, deductions, and benefits
- Ensure compliance and stay up-to-date with federal, state, and local payroll and tax regulations.
- Verify and reconcile data relating to time and attendance, expenses and paid time off.
- Address employee inquiries related to payroll, tax deductions, changes and discrepancies.
- Prepare and distribute reports to management from payroll system as requested.
- Collaborate with HR, Finance, and relevant departments to ensure smooth payroll operations.
- Review and reconcile benefits invoices from various providers, such as health insurance, retirement plans, and other employee benefits.
- Verify that the deductions taken from employee paychecks align with the amounts specified in the benefit invoices.
- Investigate discrepancies and work to resolve any errors in Paylocity.
- Assist with basic accounting and book keeping in department as time allows.
Qualified candidates must have experience with Paylocity. Experience in payroll from time entry through submission of final payroll essential. You should have had responsibility for benefit bills and auditing those against the payroll deductions. Given the small size of our office, team members will be asked to help in a variety of ways that might be outside the normal scope of their position.
We work 2 days a week in the office and 3 days from home on a typical week. Additional office time may be required during training and peak times. Our office is convenient to the Highland Park Metra station and we offer free parking.

Pay: $26.00 - $32.00 per hour
