JOB DESCRIPTION
PAYROLL SPECIALIST
260 Days Non-Exempt
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for providing financial and payroll information to ensure effective, efficient and accurate operations. This includes processing and monitoring payroll, payroll payments and expenditures in an accurate and timely manner. Acts as a point of contact and/or reference for question and requests by staff members; provides support to Chief Financial Officer.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Performs:
- Biweekly Payroll processing
- Biweekly payroll taxes upload/payment
- Health Insurance enrollment/monthly deductions verification
- Life Insurance enrollment/monthly billing
- Valic and Retirement monthly billing
- Employment verifications
- Standards for Success enrollment/updating
- Time & Attendance point person
- Frontline Central forms creator/adjuster
- Onboarding -email new employees, pull information from Applitrack into Frontline Central, Time & Attendance, and Absence Management.
- Enter all onboarding info into payroll software system.
- Neola
- COBRA enrollments
- Create new teachers contracts. Enter information on current teachers frontline central page to create electronic contracts
- Calc maternity leaves, retiree/resigning teacher severance/contract payouts
- Quarter end reports (941's; quarterly state upload) Monthly state tax reports
- TRF/PERF member enrollments & updates; payroll uploads
- Monthly VEBA calc & upload to TASC W2s
- ACAs
- 100R report
- Review/complete miscellaneous forms for employees to prepare for signatures from higher ups (i.e. verifications of experience, annuity rollover form, letters of verification of employment, etc.) Backup reception as necessary (phones, etc)
- Other duties as assigned by Central Office Administration
Qualifications: Listed below are the minimum qualifications for this job, though an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience may be accepted.
- High School Diploma is required. An associate degree is desired.
- Two or more years or more years of payroll experience.
- Excellent Communication skills
- Character, personality, and proper social capability to relate effectively with diverse staff,
- students, and community.
- Desire to continue career improvement.
- Experience in public school desirable.

Terms of Employment:
12-month full-time employee.
