We are seeking a dedicated Payroll Manager with extensive experience in managing high-volume payrolls and a strong background in leadership and management. Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise the processing of weekly, biweekly, and monthly payrolls for multi-state, non-union, and union employees.
- Manage a team of up to 5 payroll administrators, providing guidance and support.
- Review payrolls and transmit payroll files.
- Ensure compliance with payroll best practices, guidelines, and procedures.
- Identify opportunities for automation and process enhancements in payroll operations.
- Coordinate the integration of timekeeping and payroll systems.
- Oversee payroll changes, including new hires, terminations, and salary adjustments.
- Review manual checks and wire transfers.
- Play a pivotal role during company conversions and acquisitions.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws.
- Provide supervision and coaching to team members.
- Collaborate with auditors during SOX, internal, and external audits.
- Coordinate testing for new extensions, system upgrades, calculation setups, projects, and data analyses.
- Work closely with the Human Resources and Accounting teams to reconcile discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate records and prepare reports for audit purposes.
- Resolve payroll-related issues and answer inquiries.
- Escalate complex questions to the Payroll Director when necessary.
- Manage Workers Compensation and Multiple Work Site location reports on a quarterly basis.
- Coordinate State Unemployment Insurance (SUI) rate changes, update ADP charges, and investigate ADP invoices for accuracy.
- Assist in resolving any tax variances presented by the payroll tax accountant.
- Coordinate quarter and year-end activities.
- Collaborate with IT on testing new processes and interfaces.
- Provide professional and timely customer service to internal, external, and third-party stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- A proven track record with 3+ years of experience as a Payroll Manager, processing payrolls for over 5000+ employees.
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Human Resources, or a related field.
- Certified Payroll Professional designation is required.
- Extensive experience in managing multistate payrolls.
- Up-to-date knowledge of payroll procedures and related laws.
- Familiarity with payroll software, such as ADP Vantage or WFN, and ADP reporting.
- Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and build effective team relationships.
- Experience in system implementations.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills.
- Proficiency in labor and payroll tax laws.
- Familiarity with federal, state, and local payroll regulations and union contracts.
- Strong Excel and analytical skills.
