Payroll Specialist

Job Summary:
We are looking for a 100% remote Payroll Specialist located in CT or MT time zones to join our growing team. Your role will be to proactively support the Director of Payroll in handling payroll for the Salas O’Brien organization.
In this role, you will:
  • Post and close timesheets in Deltek VantagePoint
  • Run Deltek VantagePoint timesheet reports and prepare UKG import files
  • Review employee audited changes report
  • Process multi-state payroll for assigned business units using UKG Pro
  • Download preview/final payroll reports and submit funding requirements to Finance Department
  • Review pay increases, address changes, new-hire data, and calculate final paychecks for terminated team members
  • Balance collected funds for payroll taxes, garnishments, direct deposits, and live checks
  • Prepare and post payroll journal entries in Deltek VantagePoint
  • Setup employee garnishments and respond to state agency inquiries
  • Prepare and distribute PTO liability, labor allocations, and month-end accrual reports
  • Save New Hires and Terminations reports
  • Upload and reconcile 401k deferrals, loans, and employer match files
  • Prepare and submit multiple worksite reports
  • Process off-cycle payrolls and on-demand manual checks
  • Support business units by troubleshooting pay discrepancies and responding to emails
  • Prepare and submit Nevada MBT, North Dakota WSI, Washington L&I, and Ohio BWC reports
  • Assist Director of Payroll in other duties as assigned

Skills/abilities:
  • Ability to handle all aspects of multi-state payroll procedures
  • Be familiar with payroll compliance
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work well with other employees
  • Detail oriented, able to work well under pressure, ability to meet deadlines
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Knowledge of UKG Pro and Deltek VantagePoint systems
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with processing multi-state payroll
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and demanding environment
  • Certified Payroll Professional a plus
