AMDA College of the Performing Arts, with campuses in New York City and Hollywood, is one of the foremost post-secondary performing arts colleges in the country. The Payroll Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Payroll Manager with monitoring all tasks necessary to accomplish AMDA's payroll processing objectives. The majority of the employee’s time is spent assisting with planning and coordinating the functions of the payroll department. This position requires an extremely detail orientated person with significant knowledge of payroll administration, including state and federal regulations.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Analyze, prepare and input payroll data.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal wage and hour laws.
- Assist with preparing weekly, monthly, quarterly and year-end reports for management.
- Assist with Identifying, analyzing, and resolving complex, multi-faceted payroll problems and developmental issues.
- Assist with maintenance of payroll records and files including but not limited to sick time and vacation and other accrued leave.
- Assist with reconciling all payroll-related accounts and activities.
- Assist with the development and implementation of payroll practices, policies, and procedures.
- Ensure the processing of new hires, temporary workers, transfers, promotions and terminations is accurate and timely.
- Reconcile employee payroll discrepancies.
- Sort and distribute checks to various departments.
- Review and verify payroll data calculations.
- Respond to routine inquiries concerning payroll deductions, wage garnishments, and earning verifications.
- Assist with related special projects as required.
- Assist with performing payroll distribution duties after each pay cycle is complete.
- Assist with monitoring various payroll entries and payroll reports.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 2 – 4 years of high volume payroll experience required.
- Must have knowledge and experience with ADP Workforce or similar system.
- Versatile computer skills a must, including knowledge of Microsoft Office with emphasis on Word and Excel.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Excellent customer service and telephone etiquette.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks.
- Ability to focus on details and ensure appropriate follow-up occurs.
- Ability to prioritize work utilizing appropriate sense of urgency.
- Must be detail-oriented and deadline driven.
- Self-starter who is able to multi-task and work collaboratively and independently.
- Must be able to work flexible hours when necessary.
- Must have knowledge of garnishments, wage and hour laws, payroll rules and regulations and legal compliance practices.

The pay range for this position is $27.00/hr - $30.00/hr.
