Interior Exterior Building Supply, the number one commercial and residential building material supplier in the Southeast, is searching for an experienced Payroll Clerk to join our team!
Interior Exterior Building Supply is headquartered in New Orleans with 25 branches located throughout the region. This position will work with Payroll Manager to process weekly payroll for employees in several different states. Ensure accurate processing and recording of company’s payroll. Resolve payroll issues and respond to queries and requests in a timely manner.
Job Responsibilities:
- Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely.
- Reconcile system payroll reports for accuracy prior to finalization.
- Understand proper state and federal taxation laws.
- Process correct garnishment calculations and compliance.
- Maintain electronic timesheets for approximately 500 employees
- Accurately track employee vacation and PTO
- Assist with processing accurate and timely year-end reporting.
- Maintain and update employee payroll records.
- Reconcile weekly, monthly and quarterly wages (multi-state)
- Data entry of new hires, terminations and benefit deductions
- Respond timely and accurately to verification of employment request and garnishment interrogatories as needed.
- Assist HR with job postings as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- 2-3 years’ experience processing multi-state payroll is required.
- Experience with processing payroll with an in-house system is preferred.
- Experience with weekly and quarterly payroll taxes is required.
- Working knowledge of payroll best practices and federal and state regulations.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to deal with sensitive and confidential material.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to communicate with various levels of management.
- Must have good organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills.
