Job Summary: Responsible for recording hours of work, processing time records, compiling payroll statistics, maintaining payroll control records, and calculating payrolls. These responsibilities are accomplished through the successful performance of the duties outlined below. Essential Functions:
- Reviews Personnel Status Changes to input names, rates of pay, and payroll codes of newly hired workers, and changes in wage rates or pay codes for current employees.
- Records new or changed pay rates in accounting payroll system.
- Computes and prepares for review payroll data such as pension, insurance, union dues and vacation balances.
- Reviews and inputs payroll deductions.
- Assists in interpretation of company policies and government regulations affecting payroll procedures.
- May be responsible for preparation of payroll reports required by government agencies including but not limited to quarterly payroll taxes and W-2 filings.
- Responsible under supervision to review accuracy of payrolls processed.
- Studies and participates in preparing and/or updating procedures to improve efficiency of department.
- Responds to employee calls resolving any complaints or discrepancies.
- Assists in maintenance of records for vacation earned and taken.
- Assists in review and maintenance of wage garnishments.
- Assists in monthly account analysis.
- Assists in monthly account analysis, other related duties as assigned.

Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent with coursework in accounting. College degree with Accounting emphasis recommended.
- Requires 2- 4 years job experience in Payroll Processing in multiple sates is preferred. Able to have knowledge in labor laws and payroll tax regulations, payroll tax deposits, wage garnishments, payroll codes, and tracking payroll information for reviews and inputting. Including experience processing/preparing payroll for a medium to large company.
- Must be willing to undergo a Background check. Non-compliance with all or part of this section and/or failure to pass all or parts of the Background Investigation may affect job offer.
- Intermediate/advanced knowledge and experience with Word, Excel, and accounting software. Advanced knowledge and experience with payroll modules, including experience with Great Plains. Ability to work with various departments. Proficient with ten-key. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, in English. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as interest, commissions and percentages.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Detail oriented with strong organizational skills. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
