Payment Specialist

Advanced Monitoring Services is a fast-growing healthcare company specializing in clinical services provided to neurosurgery facilities in Northwest Arkansas and the surrounding regions. We are seeking highly motivated candidates to become part of our team as our resident Payment Specialist. The ideal teammate will be accountable, highly detailed-oriented, autonomous, and an advocate for our patients’ needs and rights.

This position receives and posts customer payments by recording cash, checks, and credit card transactions from insurance companies and patients. Advanced Monitoring Services offers a hands-on training program in this position to pair with the candidate’s qualities of accountability, accuracy, and determination.

Duties and Responsibilities

· Processing and monitoring all incoming payments in a timely and accurate manner.

· Post refunds, write-offs, and contractual adjustments.

· Post payments to practice management system.

· Effectively communicate and document payment denials in the practice management system and appropriate billing representative promptly.

· Identify any payments not being paid at the allowed/contracted amount and communicate this to the Billing Supervisor.

· Receive incoming correspondence and review/forward to appropriate department or staff.

· Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

· Educated on and compliant with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act) regulations; maintains strict confidentiality of client information.

· Ability to organize and complete work in a timely manner.

· Attention to detail.

· Proficiency with computers and medical billing software.

· Understanding of insurance billing and payments.

· Understanding of insurance policies and EOBs.

Education/Experience

High School Diploma or General Equivalency
