- Correctly transcribe patient demographics and extract pertinent clinical information from requisitions and procedure notes and gross information annotated by prosector on requisition form.
- Extract and transcribe essential information from electronic medical record and documents provided by outside institution into consultation pathology report.
- Coordinate all activities for inbound pathology consultations.
- Order entry and package materials for esoteric testing by reference laboratories and outbound consultation requests by pathologists.
- Retrieve and package materials requested for review and/or esoteric testing, including appropriate documentation for material tracking.
- Numerically organize requisitions for archival. Scan and electronically file/archive documents.
- Check pathology report for completion of all fields prior to moving report for QA review.
- Electronically file released pathology reports in proper folders.
- Fax pathology reports to outside institutions, utilizing functions in Gastro One’s electronic medical record system.
- Prepare routine reports (i.e., QA reports, material tracking).
- Review for completion histology lab reports.
- Reconcile records (i.e., Tumor Board case log).
- Invoice research liver biopsies.
- Submit on-line invoices for select consult cases.
- Send billing information for other consultation cases and non-routine cases to Billing Department.
- Deliver and retrieve pathology laboratory materials to and from off-site storage.
- Verify receipt of deliveries against packing slips and vendor invoices.

- Responsible for compliance with all regulatory requirements and/or guidelines. These requirements/guidelines include, but are not limited to: OSHA, HIPAA, Federal Fraud and Abuse laws.
- Computer skills – good working knowledge of MS office.

- Two (2) years of experience in a related job – medical or laboratory background required
