ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION VACANCY
SUMMARY: Currently searching for mathematics instructors to teach high school program participants during the six-week Upward Bound Summer Program.
ABOUT US: As the largest employer of students on the Cal Poly Pomona campus, the Foundation offers valuable work experience and hands-on training to approximately 1,500 Cal Poly Pomona students each year. The Foundation offers positions in various fields; whether it is in the area of technology, science, retail, culinary arts, hospitality1500 management, leadership or research grants, these student employees participate in Cal Poly Pomona's learn-by-doing philosophy and acquire practical skills in their designated field of study.
The Foundation also contributes operating support to nearly 1,100 Foundation and scholarship programs every year, including Bronco Athletics and the Norman J. Priest Scholarship. In addition, the Foundation administers grants and contracts, contributes to campus security, and supports several university publications. The Foundation contributes over $1 million annually to Cal Poly Pomona.
SOME OF THE THINGS THAT YOU WILL GET TO DO (this is just a small sampling of work variety):
The Upward Bound Programs at Cal Poly Pomona (UBCPP) invites applications from qualified professionals to join our part-time instructor teaching in Mathematics (all levels from Geometry through Calculus and Statistics).
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND Preferred EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree plus extensive professional experience in teaching
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated commitment to working with diverse student and community populations, including students from low-income and/or first-generation to college backgrounds
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Professional background and work experience in youth serving programs or secondary education.
- Minimum bachelor's degree in related disciplines (e.g., pure mathematics, applied or theoretical mathematics, or other relevant STEM fields requiring mathematics and 3 years full-time professional experience).
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to diverse learners.
