Serves as Program Assistant – 4-H-Youth Development/HHS/ ANR for the Extension Service, responsible for assisting in planning/coordinating/presenting educational programs and activities.

- High School Diploma, Associates or Bachelor’s Degree.Additional knowledge in computer (Microsoft – Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, Publisher; Purdue Extension Online Database, Cascade, Adobe products, and Canva).• Working knowledge of standard English grammar, spelling and punctuation, and ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.• Ability to work alone and with others in a team environment with minimum supervision, and maintain appropriate, respectful interrelationships with co-workers.• Ability to competently serve the public with diplomacy and respect, including occasional encounters with irate/hostile persons.• Ability to work on several tasks at the same time, often under time pressure, and complete assignments effectively amidst frequent distractions and interruptions.• Ability to provide public access to or maintain confidentiality of department information/records according to state requirements.• Ability to work extended and/or evening hours, occasionally work weekend hours, and occasionally travel out of town for training/conferences/meetings. • Possession of a valid Indiana driver’s license and demonstrated safe driving record.
Physical Effort and Work Environment: Program Assistantperforms duties in a standard office environment, which may involve sitting for long periods, lifting boxes weighing under 25 pounds, sometimes more, bending, reaching, close vision and hearing communication. Program Assistant drives vehicle to run departmental errands. Program Assistant/Communications occasionally works extended, weekend and/or evening hours, and occasionally travels out of town for training.
I. DUTIES:
- Plans, prepares, and presents the Chicken Embryology program.• Plans, prepares, and presents 4-H Youth workshops• Assists with 4-H project judging and fair coverage. Hours may vary during this time.• Creates and posts content to social media and monitors accounts to answer questions accounts with input from educators.• Assists office manager in keeping the website up to date with content from all program areas.• Helps Homemakers put together their monthly newsletter.• Assists all educators with programming including but not limited to: Kindergarten 101, Youth Leadership, and Junior Leaders.• Assists 4-H Program Assistant is keeping track of incoming funds for 4-H awards and communicates with vendor about them. Checks in awards as they arrive to ensure they are correct.• Conducts 4-H volunteer reference checks and sex offender checks. Secures yearly Adult Behavior Expectation Forms for all volunteers. Keeps records up to date and files them in the Box account.• Collates, and distributes educational flyers to support curriculum or promotional materials encouraging educational opportunities, events, and activities for all program areas.• May periodically attend various committee/board meetingsand assists with other activities as needed.• Assists with composing/mailing correspondence andanswering programmatic questions.• Assists with 4-H Online and Fair Entry database/programs.• Attends and chaperones 4-H Round-Up and Purdue Academy as needed.• Working knowledge of and ability to make practical application of department policies and procedures, and applicable Purdue University guidelines. Ability to comply with all employer/department personnel policies and work rules, including, but not limited to, attendance, safety, drug-free workplace and personal conduct.• Must be able to comply with Extension office policies as well as the Purdue University Sexual Harassment Policy.• Incumbent reports directly to CED• Other duties as assigned.
