Job Description
Join a small but quickly growing queer-owned tax practice in the SF Bay area! Our client is hiring for a part-time Accounting Assistant, roughly 15 hours of remote work weekly. Hours can scale up to 30 or more during the busier season (typically February-April and again between September-October).
We're looking for an organized and thorough person with a customer-focused mindset to help manage and optimize the day-to-day tasks including:
- Client communication: responding to inbound emails, following up with clients to obtain documents, and triaging client requests for the CPA.
- First draft tax preparation work including reviewing tax organizers, tax documents, profit and loss statements, and drafting returns in Intuit ProConnect.
- Bookkeeping in Intuit QuickBooks
- Practice management tasks, such as testing workflows, drafting tax organizers, etc. (I use TaxDome software for practice management.)
- Helping to answer "quick questions” and create template emails to make it easier to answer similar questions going forward.
- Rigorous follow up on escalated requests to make sure clients receive best in class service from our small firm.
The Ideal Candidate
We'd love to speak with you if you are:
- Interest in tax law and accounting
- Inquisitive and curious by nature
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and by email
- Customer-focused; patient and polite with clients that may be nervous and/or confused
- Ability to pass a (State required) background check
- Comfortable working with queer and trans folks
Desired
- Accounting, bookkeeping, or tax background – either academic or professional
- Interest in growing professionally in the accounting field
- On track for either an EA or CPA certification
- "Entrepreneurial spirit” – focused on outcomes and able to creatively problem solve
