Paraprofessional
Duties:
- Provide support and assistance to students with special needs in an elementary school atmosphere.
- Implement behavior management strategies to promote a positive and inclusive learning environment
- Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with autism or other developmental disabilities
- Assist with curriculum development and modification to meet the unique needs of each student
- Provide one-on-one or small group instruction to support academic, social, and emotional growth
- Assist with personal care tasks, such as toileting, feeding, and hygiene, as needed
- Monitor student progress and document observations for reporting purposes
Experience:
- Knowledge of behavior management techniques and strategies for supporting students with autism or other developmental disabilities
- Familiarity with curriculum development and modification to meet individual student needs
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team, collaborating with teachers, therapists, and other professionals
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with students, parents, and colleagues
