We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Personal Injury Paralegal to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in assisting attorneys with all aspects of personal injury cases, from intake to settlement or trial preparation. This role requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with attorneys and clients.
Responsibilities:
1. Conduct initial client interviews and intake procedures, gathering necessary information and documents related to personal injury claims.
2. Assist attorneys in drafting legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and discovery requests/responses.
3. Manage and organize case files, including electronic and paper documents, ensuring all information is accurately recorded and easily accessible.
4. Communicate with clients, medical providers, insurance companies, and other parties involved in the case to gather information and updates.
5. Coordinate medical record requests, review and summarize medical records, and assist in organizing medical evidence for use in litigation.
6. Prepare and maintain documentation related to settlements, including drafting settlement agreements and distribution schedules.
7. Assist attorneys in preparing for hearings, depositions, mediations, and trials, including organizing exhibits, witness preparation, and courtroom support.
8. Conduct legal research on relevant laws, regulations, and case precedents as needed to support case strategies.
9. Stay current with developments in personal injury law and procedures, attending relevant training and continuing education programs.
10. Perform administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing calendars, and maintaining billing records.
Qualifications:
1. Previous experience working as a paralegal in personal injury law, with a strong understanding of case management processes.
2. Proficiency in legal research and writing, with excellent analytical and communication skills.
3. Ability to work efficiently under pressure and manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
4. Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with a commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
5. Proficiency with legal software and technology, including case management systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and electronic filing systems.
6. Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients, attorneys, and external stakeholders.
7. Willingness to adapt and learn new skills, with a proactive and self-motivated attitude.
8. Familiarity with medical terminology and the healthcare industry is preferred but not required.
9. Commitment to upholding ethical standards and adhering to legal regulations governing the practice of law.
