ABOUT YOU

The Outside Sales Engineer will drive the sales of ABB VFDs and other products including motors and controls by educating, servicing, and managing the company’s customers, including contractors, distributors, engineering firms, end users and OEMs. You’ll develop strong relationships with assigned accounts and key decision makers using close collaborations with internal staff for sales growth and customer support ensuring a positive customer experience

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop a deep understanding of ABB products and updates, and share the knowledge with customers and internal staff
  • Manage and grow customer accounts, including regular in-person visits
  • Develop and build new customer relations
  • Write up customer quotes and orders ensuring they are pushed to the appropriate department (i.e., PM, CS, and ABB inside tech for finalization)
  • Support customers throughout the entire customer life-cycle from quotation through delivery and warranty
  • Conduct on- and off-site product presentations to perspective customers, internal staff, and work trade shows and events
  • Provide on-site and in-house owner training, coordinate contractor training for expanded service support
  • Help develop system solutions for applications with unique technical challenges such as retrofits, design build, etc.
  • Manage and evaluate factory training for ABB VFD and ABB/Baldor motors
  • Update and educate other teams on ABB and related products Immerse yourself in the company’s positive culture with regular in-office visits (once a week on average) to build and maintain relationships and knowledge; work closely with our field technicians to ensure a positive customer experience
  • Work and coordinate with field service team as necessary, as ABB is a startup-heavy line
  • Help develop the positions as described in ABB’s program descriptions
  • Maintain a firm understanding and regularly operate company CRM systems
  • Perform other tasks as requested by supervisor  

EDUCATION + EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma plus relevant experience required
  • Vocational technical school degree with HVACR technical background plus relevant experience preferred
  • B.S. in mechanical/electrical engineering or five years of relevant work experience is ideal  

SKILLS + ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM system
  • Advanced technical knowledge of HVAC, electrical systems, equipment, and components
  • Advanced knowledge of ABB Variable Frequency Drives
  • Ability to express oneself clearly in conversations and interactions with others
  • Ability to present effectively in front of groups of industry peers
  • Build and maintain customer satisfaction with products and services offered by the organization
  • Can work with a variety of people each day and build relationships, and interact positively with co-workers and customers remotely and in-person
  • Can adapt to changing business needs, conditions, and work responsibilities
  • Take personal responsibility for the quality and timeliness of work and achieves results with little oversight
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic problem solver with an ability to work independently when needed
