Department Overview

Operations Support is dedicated to creating cross-commodity consistency and standards in Operations. The team provides support services guided by best practices and a relentless pursuit for improvement. It has single points of accountability for Work Management & Resource Planning, Execution Support, Business Operations & Process Improvement, PG&E Academy, and Enterprise Public Works. Operations Support is comprised of approximately 1,000 coworkers.

Position Summary

Plans and monitors Work Plan Portfolio of jobs. Collaborates with stakeholders to plan and track the execution of work related to the overall portfolio. Establishes methods to collect data from leadership, finance, project management, operations and other stakeholders for analysis. Utilizes customized software and ERP systems to manage portfolio/Work Plan data and drives the adoption of new planning systems and related processes.

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be in San Ramon, Oakland or Rocklin. 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job.  The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.  Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.​

A reasonable salary range is:​

Bay Area Minimum: $​95,000

Bay Area Maximum: $​143,000

&/OR​

California Minimum: $​90,000

California Maximum: $136,000

Job Responsibilities

  • Applies advanced knowledge to various planning processes and challenges. Works primarily independently on projects and issues of larger scope or complexity, requiring evaluation of several variables. Primarily assigned to Work Plan for one major work category.
  • Diagnoses issues such as actual cost or resource data outside of plan. Determines how and where to obtain further information from systems or stakeholders to investigate and determine cause of variance. May independently reach out to stakeholders to explore performance variances and causes.
  • Ensures resource balancing among all projects throughout the plan/portfolio in the assigned department. Runs regular reports from multiple data sources regarding actual available resources by work category and compares against the number and type of scheduled jobs.
  • May develop recommendations regarding new or better reports based on assessment of stakeholder needs, resource planning trends and to provide better clarity and quality data for effective leadership decision making.
  • Participates on special initiatives project teams. May assist with some IT related enhancement discussions. Collaborates with team members on most effective field rollout of process, tool and/or reporting changes.
  • Partners with peers and stakeholders to develop integrated Work Plans, project updates and presentation materials for regular department Work Plan meeting. Assists stakeholders in preparing regular presentations regarding project status and workforce utilization.
  • Presents project plan updates, analysis of resource plans and actuals to stakeholders throughout the service territory in assigned department. Discusses the trends and implications. Provides training and explanation on additional ways the stakeholders can use existing reports to further investigate issues or identify causes of variances.
  • Recommends resource planning changes to ensure work completion.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelors Degree in Business, technical field or equivalent related experience.
  • 5 years of total related experience such as integrated or strategic portfolio/Work Planning in an electric utility or related field

Desired:

  • Strong data analysis skills, knowledgeable in collecting data, organizing, synthesizing, reporting, recognizing trending and anomalies, drawing conclusions from data.
  • Proficiency in developing recommendations from data analysis.
  • Knowledge of workforce scheduling concepts and practices.
  • Knowledge of electric utility construction processes and practices.
  • General knowledge of capital budgeting processes and methods
  • Good problem solving and collaboration skills.
  • Basic influence skills to gain agreement from primarily peer level contacts.
  • Good communication and presentation skills with various audiences.
  • Technical skills using systems and applications such as SAP, Business Warehouse (BW), Access, Excel, PowerPoint to develop reports do analysis and deliver presentations.
