About the role
- The Outside Sales Representative will call on various assigned accounts (i.e. Mechanical Engineers, HVAC Mechanical Contractors, Plumbing Contractors) that influence the specification and purchase of products marketed by UEP. In this role, you will work cooperatively with other team members to gain preferred status within key accounts and to drive sales towards UEP products. This individual is responsible for achieving sales and profit targets.
What you"ll do
- Regularly call on critical influencers to include but not limited to consulting engineering firms.
- Outside Sales Engineer activities include building customer relationships through face-to-face meetings and customer site visits; handling customer inquiries and coordinating quotations, proposals, aftermarket services, and other follow-up for customer base, prospecting territory for potential new customers.
- This position requires a motivated individual with a high level of organization, time management skills, and technical expertise.
- Essential characteristic for this position includes excellent communication skills, responsiveness, teamwork, attention to detail, and sense of urgency.
- Drive specifications for all products represented by UEP with the influencers described above to become their preferred supplier.
- Provide expert guidance for the engineering community in finding solutions to project needs.
- Regularly schedule and facilitate lunch and learn meetings.
- Be actively engaged in appropriate professional organizations, i.e., ASHRAE, ASPE, CASHE, DBIA, Property Managers Association.
- Develop long-term relationships with customers and engineers throughout the territory.Target customers are mechanical engineering firms, mechanical and plumbing contractors.
- Continuous presence at all customer facilities in territory to promote the most current UEP offering.
- Frequent travel required for customer/sales calls, territory development, training, or other business purposes.
- Provide professional and prompt responses via phone, email, and in-person, text, etc.
- Keep up to date on current product technology and market changes
- Effectively communicate with a broad array of customers including management, engineering, maintenance, and purchasing staff.
- Review and evaluate customers' technical requirements, prepare proposals, and execute a follow-up process utilizing inside sales support, company tools, and guidelines.
- Cultivate revenue opportunities for aftermarket services with existing customer base.
- Maintain positive relationships with principals and establish effective marketing practices for their products
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; or equivalent work experience.
- At least two to three years' experience in the HVAC industry doing design or other construction-related work.
- Mechanical aptitude, familiarity with hydronic system design, and commercial HVAC equipment, VRF/VRV equipment preferred.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and Adobe PDF editing. Experienced with system sizer and equipment sizing software.
- Proficient at written and oral communication with internal, external customers
- Ability to work well independently and as an effective and efficient team member.
- Must have excellent math aptitude, superior follow-up skills, and the ability to work under pressure.
- Must be able to successfully balance multiple projects and assignments while delivering timely, high-quality work products.
- Significant local travel in DC, northern VA, and the Baltimore metropolitan area
- Some national travel for training and customer trips.
- Must maintain active driver's license with a clean driving record.
The pay range for this role is:
80,000 - 120,000 USD per year(1610 Professional Blvd., Suite K Crofton, Maryland 21114)
