Nurse Practitioner (MSN)

Overview:

• Provides and is accountable for patient care according to the philosophy and standards of the Department of Pediatrics and in accordance with the rules and regulations of Massachusetts governing NP practices
• Executes and evaluates treatment techniques within the scope of NP practice to assess and manage the patient population (patients with diabetes as well as general endocrine disorders)
• Demonstrates advanced problem-solving skills in all aspects of medical and nursing assessment, care and treatment
• Utilizes appropriate clinical skills to integrate and implement the nursing process with the plan of care
• Functions as a clinical resource for the patient, consistently providing direction and support to ensure a focus in the team goals and patient driven outcomes
• Functions within the role expectations of his/her area and delegates duties to other caregivers as required

Education/Degree/Licensure

• Graduate of a Masters-level Nurse Practitioner program and licensed as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Massachusetts

• Eligible for prescriptive practice (DEA and Mass Controlled Substance) required

• At least three to five years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner; endocrine experience in a medical provider setting (hospital, physician practice), preferably in the field of Pediatrics, would be optimal but is not essential

• BLS required (or secured within the first three months of employment)

• CDCES certification preferred (Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist), but not essential.
