Dana Hall School seeks candidates for the position of Pediatric Nurse Practitioner.
The individual in this position will be accountable for:
- Planning, developing, and implementing school health management protocols and policies
- Diagnosing, treating and managing acute and chronic diseases, while emphasizing health promotion and disease prevention
- Providing pediatric and adolescent health care maintenance
- Prescribing administering and managing medication program per MGL 105 CMR 210.000
- Ordering and interpreting results of laboratory and diagnostic tests
- Reviewing health forms at the beginning of the school year, as well documenting and managing health records on a continuous basis
- Collaborating with the mental health staff to develop and manage interventions targeting academic outcomes for students with emotional and behavioral disorders
- Communicating information to other healthcare providers, including collaboration with the school physician, as needed
- Facilitating two or more weekly Wellness Education classes
- Being available to students, families, faculty and staff as a resource in matters pertaining to health during and beyond the school day
- Providing telephone triage in a rotation of after-hours and weekend coverage, including some holidays
- Reviewing immunization status for all students to ensure compliance with MA. DPH regulations
- Participating in care/case management committees
Clinical expertise in pediatrics, competence in supporting mental health conditions, and an ability to work with students, families, and a range of disciplines within the school and community are required. Successful candidates must have: a current active Nurse Practitioner License in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts; completed an accredited educational program for Nurse Practitioners; current AHA Basic Life Support Certification; a minimum of two-years experience in an ambulatory or school setting preferred.
Candidates must possess; excellent social, written and oral communication skills; strong crisis management skills; an ability to multi-task and consistently meet deadlines; the flexibility to manage multiple and, at times, competing priorities; excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to genuinely connect with students ages 9-18 and their parents/guardians; the ability to address the developmental needs of female adolescents and young woman in an informed, compassionate manner; and the ability to be team oriented and collaborate with a variety of disciplines within the school and medical communities.
This is a 10-month, full-time position beginning in the 2024-25 academic year reporting to the Director of Health Services.
