POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is in the Cyber Bureau, reporting to the Cybercrime Office. This is a full-time position that will manage the Cellebrite Pathfinder Project. The incumbent in this position will manage statewide cyber assets assigned to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) Regional Cyber Units, providing desktop, network, or software service support as needed. The selected candidate will be trained to conduct mobile and/or computer forensics to assist with criminal investigations and provide authoritative consulting on technology matters related to criminal investigations conducted by the FDLE and other law enforcement agencies as needed.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specific duties include:

  • Administering computer network server(s) in one or more of the major network operating systems as required and designated by the Cyber Bureau management staff;
  • Managing the Community Oriented Policing Services grant Pathfinder project;
  • Advising Cyber Bureau management staff regarding technical strategies to employ furtherance of proactive and reactive criminal investigations;
  • Maintaining a comprehensive library of hardware and software technical publications in support of computer systems operations;
  • Designing and testing vulnerability assessment strategies to ensure integrity of information security safeguards for governmental systems;
  • Developing and maintaining technical standards, procedures, and techniques for the guidance of agency personnel engaged in cybercrime investigations and digital forensics; and
  • Maintaining a comprehensive library of hardware and software technical publications in support of computer systems operations.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of computer networking concepts;
  • Comprehensive knowledge of one or more of the major network operating systems;
  • Comprehensive knowledge of fundamental computer operations including hardware, software applications, and electronic communications;
  • Knowledge of Internet architecture;
  • Knowledge of computer intrusion techniques;
  • Skills in wriiting clearly and factually to present complex and interrelated information in investigative reports; 
  • Ability to maintain knowledge of current technology trends and techniques; and
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.

 

BASE SALARY:

  • $29.81/hourly

OUR SALARY & OPS BENEFITS:

Starting hourly salary will be the minimum of the class pay range, unless otherwise dictated by FDLE’s pay policy. FDLE is a State of Florida Employer and offers a comprehensive OPS benefits package (ONLY available to OPS members who will be working 30 or more hours a week), including:

BACKGROUND:

FDLE requires an extensive background process of all recommended applicants. The elements of a background include: financial credit check, criminal history of applicant and applicant’s immediate family or roommates, personal references, employment and education verifications (which includes official transcript(s)), drug screen and fingerprinting.  This information will be utilized to make the final hiring decision.

 

NOTES:

Preference will be given to current FDLE members who have satisfactorily completed at least six months of the probationary period for their current position.
