Retina Consultants is a private vitreoretinal practice with more than 30 years of providing ophthalmic retina care and treatment to those in our communities. Our practice continues to grow and we are seeking to hire a full-time Ophthalmic Assistant / Technician to assist our existing team!

As an Ophthalmic Assistant / Technician you will be responsible for providing care to our patients. This includes completing patient work-ups, collecting patient history and chief complaint, checking visual acuity, and charting. The technician is responsible for diagnostic testing including that includes Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), B-scans, and Fundus photography. Technicians also provide support services to our physicians and perform clinical duties required to most effectively handle the day-to-day functioning of their practices including restocking and cleaning of exam rooms and telephone triage to assess urgent versus emergent needs of the patients.
QUALIFICATIONS
We prefer a minimum of 1 year as an Ophthalmic Assistant/Technician and experience in retina will be a competitive advantage, but not required. Although wanting to hire an experienced technician, Medical Assistants are encouraged to apply, as we are willing to train the right candidate that is interested in the medical field of ophthalmology. Required skills include the ability to be proactive, team-oriented, self-starter, excellent communication skills, patience, empathy and ability to multi-task and work in a busy environment are highly desirable skills.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required with a Bachelors preferred; one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
