Job Summary: Working under the immediate supervision of the managing Director, this person will handle the clinical aspects of the office. This is an advanced-level technician position. This position is intended to expedite patient flow while maintaining high levels of quality care.

Responsibilities:
- Sets and maintains standards for clinical duties such as patient work up, scribing, diagnostics, etc.; following provider protocols.
- Leadership support to other technicians
- Assist with referrals and triage
- Perform and oversee preliminary eye examinations, including taking patient histories and measuring visual acuity
- Conduct diagnostic tests, such as optical coherence tomography, fundus photography, fluorescein angiography
- Assist ophthalmologists in various procedures, such as eye injections and laser treatments
- Educate patients on proper eye care, to include post-treatment
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records
- Clean and maintain ophthalmic instruments and equipment
- Reports non-functioning/defective equipment to managing Director immediately
- Oversight on clinical inventory
- Ensures clinical supplies are current and expired materials are discarded
- Maintains all HIPAA and OSHA training
- Assists managing Director in training new technicians
- Consults with clinical consultant with clinical needs as directed by managing Director
- Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

- Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology related to the eye
- Familiarity with medical office procedures, including medical coding and HIPAA regulations
- Experience with electronic health record systems, preferably Ophthalmology EMR such as Nextech or Modernizing Medicine
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately
- Excellent interpersonal skills for interacting with patients and healthcare professionals
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and multi-task effectively

Education: Minimum of High School diploma or equivalent. COA certification a plus. Knowledge of medical terminology is required.

Experience: Must have strong patient care service experience. Previous experience in ophthalmology is preferred; experience in retina is a plus

Pay: $25.00 - $28.00 per hour
