Job description

SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for the materials management function relating to the planning, procurement, storage, control and distribution of materials and products to meet Company objectives and customer sales requirements. Included is the responsibility of directing and administering some or all of the following functions: Production Control, Inventory control, Shipping and Receiving, Manufacturing Order Management and Warehouse.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


  • Utilize operating system (ERP) to manage production orders, to meet all requirements for all processes.

  • Oversees and ensures proper production control planning and scheduling programs to meet sales forecasts and to balance the level of manpower and machine requirements. Makes certain that deviations to the production schedule are investigated and properly followed up.
  • Maintains optimum inventory levels to ensure on-time deliveries to meet customer requirements while minimizing carrying costs and premium transportation charges.
  • Responsible for maintaining inventory accuracies. Managing production order and materials transactions to ensure proper material usage.
  • Manages the shipping and receiving functions and oversees the storage of purchased supplies and finished goods.
  • Plans layout of warehouse, and other storage areas, considering product movement, size, weight, and related factors of items stored.
  • Maintains day-to-day communication with Plant Manager and Management Team concerning daily requirements.
  • Ensures proper customer contact relating to their requirements, i.e., requests, inventories, deliveries, order patterns and concerns with regard to such. Assists in managing the internal requirements of Customer Service with respect to materials, information systems and necessary reporting needed to meet customer expectations.
  • Facilitate and maintain strong channels of communication with customer service, scheduling, production and purchasing and facilitate any necessary follow-up to ensure smooth movement of goods.
  • Oversees the purchasing and/or contracting for materials, supplies and services for the operation of the Plant, in addition to all inventory items. Confers with requesting parties when specific sources are requested. Investigates and solves problems resulting from material shortages, however caused.
  • Plans and coordinates work, trains and motivates, monitors, and evaluates performance of supervised departments. Counsel, records, and disciplines as necessary.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises 2-5 employees in various departments included in core responsibilities. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work, addressing complaints and resolving problems.


QUALIFICATIONS

Salary of $80,000 to $90,000 DOE

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • College degree in related field; or five to ten years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least 3 years in a Manufacturing environment.
  • Thorough understanding of materials management, operations, production planning, scheduling.
  • Possess experience in ERP (Infor LN) operating systems; Computer skills required for multiple graphs, reports and charts.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, select, train, and instruct personnel. Good interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
