Technical Operations/Maintenance
Technical Operations is the maintenance, repair, and overhaul division of United. The department includes aircraft maintenance technicians, engineers, data scientists, strategic and business analysts, planners, ground equipment and facilities teams, supply chain teams and more.
Job overview and responsibilities
The Technical Operations team is currently looking for a leader who has a passion for strategy and analytics with the willingness to dig deep into details as well as the ability to assess the big picture. This role will require critical thinking and strong internal and external client relationship. If you like to work in a high pace challenging environment and love to take on complex problems then join a dynamic, hard-working, and innovative team in one of United Airline's Operations Strategy groups. As a Sr. Manager, you will be responsible for a portfolio of work around aircraft maintenance decision modelling, analytics, reporting and data management. As a fleet portfolio owner, you will lead projects from conception to completion: assess internal and external capacity environment, lead quantitative and qualitative analysis, and develop and present recommendations to senior management. You will lead the effort to optimize aircraft maintenance visits to accommodate special modification projects, maintenance checks, and other factors like paint, gear changes etc. Moreover, you will lead impact analysis, cost-benefit analysis, assess change readiness, and identify/engage key stakeholders for short term to long-term aircraft maintenance strategy.
- Performs strategy formulation, development, implementation, and evaluation of long-term aircraft maintenance plans to optimize cost and aircraft safety
- Communicate and coordinate Airframe Heavy Check plans and requirements with internal and external facilities to ensure advance planning and preparation to support event check requirements. Meet regularly with Production Leadership and associated support departments to insure alignment of activities with Airframe Check plans and requirements
- Provide detailed analysis of check visit performance to plan. Communicates and reviews performance with Production and Support areas to support continuous improvement
- Lead weekly and other periodic reviews of Airframe activity including detailed analysis of past and future data to assess fleet, program, labor and facility trends and efforts to improve event opportunity and asset management
- Detailed 6-year Hangar plan including labor, facility, and aircraft allocation requirements. Optimize fleet utilization through interactions with MX program team, Engineering, Procurement, etc. Contribute to ongoing strategic reviews throughout the Tech Ops Division. Cost analysis of Airframe plan solutions with recommendations for implementation. Identify, coordinate, and communicate allocations necessary to support maintenance check activity with Network, Fleet, and Senior Level Management

Qualifications
What's needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
- Bachelor's degree
- Bachelor's in Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Supply Chain/Logistics, Business, or related field
- 5+ years experience in using data analysis and quantitative modeling techniques (e.g. statistical, optimization, simulation, spreadsheet)
- 5+ years of leadership experience in strategy, planning, forecasting, Continuous Improvement, or maintenance/aircraft scheduling function
- Strategy and planning
- Be adept at balancing several projects and initiatives simultaneously through appropriate prioritization
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with ability to effectively interact at all levels (including executive) and team with all internal and external business partners
- Must be willing to travel domestically and internationally 15% of the time
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
- Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
- Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

- MBA or MS in Engineering, Mathematics, or Statistics
- Experience in Airline planning and analysis functions
- Project Management or Lean Six Sigma certification
- A&P Certification
- Experience in Aircraft maintenance planning
