Responsible for manufacturing operations, including machining, assembly, welding, painting, press, radial drills, small drills, and tool room. Supervises Supervisors/Lead Operators/Maintenance. Second shift position, has responsibility for second shift production, maintenance, quality assurance and shipping dock.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential)
- Reports to the Plant Manager. Directs and supervises the activities of Supervisors/Lead Operators/Maintenance and Production team members on first and second shift who are involved in all aspects of manufacturing.*
- Organizes manufacturing procedures and operations to accomplish objectives in accordance with production and delivery schedules, available manpower, skills and manufacturing capacities.*
- Maintains uninterrupted production, flow of materials, product quality and quantity within the limitations of established manufacturing costs and budget allocations.*
- Coordinates with other shift and departments (Supervisors, Production Control, Purchasing, Inventory Control, etc.) to ensure continuity of production activities.*
- Monitors operations and orders in process to keep informed of manufacturing status. When needed, initiates the necessary steps to maintain conformity with schedules.*
- Determines force requirements and job assignments based on order activity. Reallocates resources between crew as appropriate.*
- Monitors critical orders. Expedites orders when necessary to assure due dates are met.*
- Identifies problems (i.e. material shortages, machine malfunctions, tool breakage, engineering changes, revised shipment dates, cancellation, etc.). Identifies and implements corrective action.*
- Coordinates with Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Purchasing, Sales and Quality Assurance on matters pertaining to schedules, production, methods, materials, and designs to resolve day-to-day production problems.*
- Responsible for the development of team members to improve their performance. Makes decisions regarding training and other developmental activities.*
- Makes decisions regarding how to address performance problems including the application of discipline.*
- Ensures team members are performing jobs in a safe manner and are adhering to safe work practices.*
- Participates in and actively supports the Company’s Lean activities.*
- Keeps abreast of new technology or other developments pertinent to manufacturing operations (i.e. equipment, methods, etc.).*
- Fills in for the Plant Manager during his/her absence,*
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager or V.P. – General Manager.*
Special Location/Position Requirements:
Tulsa or Little Rock Metropolitan (immediately surrounding) area.
Job Specifications (Work Experience, Skills, Abilities, etc.)
- 8 - 10 years’ experience managing in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience managing a nonunion workforce, preferred.
- Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles, preferred.
- SAP experience & familiarity.
- Able to read and interpret blueprints.
- Ability to operate typical MicroSoft & other computer software programs in support of production operations.
- Strong interpersonal administrative skills, required.
- Strong organizational skills, required.
Education Requirements:
BS in Manufacturing/Mechanical/Industrial Engineering & Technology, preferred or a combination of education and experience approximating equivalent.
Physical Demands/Environmental Conditions:
Normal office conditions. Office may be located in a multi-level office building. Job demands may require long periods of sitting, telephone work, and/or computer work, as well as interaction with other people. Normal office conditions include walking, standing, bending, kneeling, climbing stairs, lifting, driving, and/or traveling.
