Drone Operations ManagerPosition Summary:
The Drone Operations Manager is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of Drone Operations within the construction company. This includes developing and overseeing the drone program, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements, and leveraging drone technology to support various construction projects. The role requires a combination of technical expertise in unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), operational management, and strategic planning to enhance efficiency, safety, and innovation in construction processes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities for the Drone Operations Manager include:
- Design, implement, and manage the company's drone program, including operational procedures, safety protocols, and maintenance schedules.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for drone flights, ensuring all operations comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Stay abreast of regulations affecting Drone Operations and ensure all activities are compliant with FAA rules and other relevant regulations.
- Obtain and manage necessary licenses, waivers, and certifications for Drone Operations and pilots.
- Plan and conduct drone flights to support construction projects, including aerial surveying, mapping, progress monitoring, and inspection tasks.
- Oversee the training and certification of drone pilots and operators, ensuring a high level of competency and safety.
- Ensure efficient collection, processing, and analysis of aerial data gathered from Drone Operations to support project planning, execution, and reporting.
- Collaborate with project managers and engineering teams to integrate drone data into project workflows effectively.
- Evaluate and select appropriate drone technologies, including UAVs, sensors, and software, to meet project requirements.
- Manage the maintenance, repair, and upgrading of drone equipment to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Develop and enforce safety standards for Drone Operations to protect personnel, equipment, and project sites.
- Conduct risk assessments for Drone Operations and implement mitigation strategies to minimize potential hazards.
- Communicate effectively with project teams, clients, and regulatory bodies, providing updates and insights derived from Drone Operations.
- Advocate for the use of drone technology within the company, demonstrating its value and potential applications in construction.
Drone Operations Manager Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, Engineering, Aviation, or a related field.
- Extensive experience in Drone Operations, preferably within the construction or related industries.
- FAA Part 107 drone pilot certification and additional relevant qualifications.
- Strong understanding of UAV technology, aerial surveying techniques, and data analysis.
- Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage projects, teams, and stakeholders effectively.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with industry trends and regulations.
Drone Operations ManagerPhysical Demands:
- Office setting with regular on-site visits to construction projects.
- Must be willing to travel to project sites as required.
- Flexibility to work outside of regular office hours when necessary to support project timelines and operations.
- Ability to operate drones and related equipment.
- Capable of working in various outdoor environments and conditions.
