Job description

   The Operations Manager is responsible forsupporting the branch manager as well as for overseeing all operational aspectsrelated to the distribution of belting and power transmission products. Thisrole involves managing day-to-day activities, optimizing processes, ensuringefficient distribution, and maintaining high-quality service standards. TheOperations Manager plays a critical role in coordinating with variousdepartments to streamline operations, enhance productivity, and deliverexceptional customer satisfaction in the belting and power transmissionindustry.

1. Healthand Safety: Promote asafe working environment by implementing and enforcing safety protocols andprocedures. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and conductregular safety inspections to identify and address potential hazards.

2.Compliance: Ensurecompliance with relevant regulations, industry standards, and company policies.Stay informed about changes in regulations and implement necessary changes toensure compliance.

3. TeamLeadership:Management and Employee Development: Provide management, leadership anddirection to the operations team including warehouse staff and beltTechnicians. Set clear expectations, coach, and mentor team members, and fostera culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning.  Foster employee development and career growthopportunities within the team.

4. ProcessOptimization:Continuously review and optimize operational processes to improve efficiency,reduce costs, and enhance overall performance. Identify areas for processimprovement and implement solutions to streamline workflows and maximizeproductivity.

5.Operations Oversight:Manage and coordinate all operational activities assigned the branch inclusiveof remote locations, inventory warehouse management, shipping, receiving, andwarehouse operations. Ensure that operations are executed efficiently and incompliance with company policies and industry regulations.

6.Inventory Management:Oversee onsite facility levels and distribution activities to ensure timelydelivery of goods and minimize stockouts. Coordinate with procurement andlogistics teams to optimize usage of space and safe practices for moving anddistribution of items.  Support dailycycle count efforts with locating inventory for counters and facilitateefficient and accurate annual physical inventory.

7.Customer Service:Collaborate with the customer service department to address customer inquiries,resolve issues, and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction. Implementstrategies to improve service delivery and enhance the overall customerexperience.

8.Resource Management:Oversee the allocation and utilization of resources, including manpower,equipment, and materials. Ensure that resources are deployed effectively tomeet operational requirements and maximize productivity.

9.Financial Management:  Understand overall accountability forrevenue, margins, mix and market share objectives.   Manage operational budget and expenses toinsure cost-effectiveness.  Propose andimplement strategies to operate in the most cost-effective way whilemaintaining quality standards.  Cooperatefully with the Credit Department in extending and enforcing credit policy.

10.Operational Development:Develop and implement operational strategies aligned with the company's goalsand objectives. Collaborate with senior management to set targets andobjectives for the distribution and service departments.  Analyze data for trends and develop andexecute "value added" programs.

11.Quality Assurance:Implement quality control measures to ensure that services meet the higheststandards of quality and reliability. Monitor service delivery processes,conduct quality audits, and implement corrective actions as needed to addressany issues or deficiencies.

12.Continuous Improvement:Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational and processefficiency, reduce waste, and increase customer satisfaction. Encourageinnovation and creativity within the operations team to identify and implementbest practices.

13.  Employee management: Effectively lead and support hiringand termination, training and development, and being a strong role model andmentor.  Assist in annual employeereviews of relevant team members.

14.  Communication and Collaboration: Communicate and work effectively with other branches and senior managersby sharing information on effective practices, competitive intelligence,business opportunities and needs.  Assistthe Branch and Regional Manager in developing branch and organizationalobjectives.  Cooperate fully with theFinance Department in extending and enforcing credit policy and assisting incollections when needed.

15.  Customer Service: Support the service and sales team byactively addressing customer satisfaction issues promptly and insuring finalresolution. 

16.  Personal and Professional Development:  Increase knowledge of industry and products and management and financedisciplines while working collaboratively with area suppliers, sales directorsand manufacturers' reps and the associated organizations.

RequiredExperience:

High SchoolDiploma:  Bachelor's degree in businessadministration, operations management, logistics, in a related field, orequivalent experience is preferred.

Provenexperience in operations management, preferably in a distribution and service environment.

Effectivelistening, communication (verbal and written), and negotiation skills.

Strongproject management and multi-tasking skills.

Experiencemanaging warehouse facilities.

Superiororganizational skills.

Technicalexpertise and knowledge of company products.

Excellentanalytical and problem-solving skills.

Basicunderstanding of supply chain management principles.

Proficiencyin data analysis and use of relevant software tools.

Ability tothrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple prioritieseffectively.

Knowledge ofMicrosoft Office Suite, inventory/warehouse management and distributionsoftware.

Supervisoryexperience required.
