Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
Provides quality patient care by admitting all pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients, and assisting patient family members. Successfully operates telephone system to answer and respond to incoming calls. Responsible for greeting all patients and visitors to the ASC facility. Maintains medical records in an organized manner to facilitate their retrieval and assist the physician in caring for the patient.

Essential Functions Statement(s)
1. Dates and distributes incoming mail
2. Types, files and performs data entry for new patients
3. Answers telephone and directs telephone calls. Takes and delivers messages to the appropriate area or individual
4. Greets patients, patient family members, and visitors
5. Prepares Medical Charts for new patients
6. Assists new patients when necessary, checks in return patients, updates all patient information such as telephone number, address, insurance data, etc., to ensure a complete accurate patient record
7. Pre-registers patient and enters data into patient information system
8. Explains registration sheet, promissory notes, authorization to bill and other documents in the chart to the patient, or guardian, and gets confirmation of their accuracy
9. Obtains patient or guardian signatures when required. Creates accurate labels for charging and name band. Labels forms using established policy and procedure
10. Verifies correct procedure, surgeon with patient, and identifies and communicates any deviations
11. Regular and predictable attendance
12. Ability to work in a cooperative manner with others
13. Performs all other duties as assigned
SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education: High School Graduate or GED required
Experience: 3-5 years of experience in healthcare required
Computer Skills: Must be computer literate. Basic computer skills required.
