Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Applicant should enjoy engaging the public in person and on the phone enthusiastically and patiently. They should be able to work both independently and collaboratively. Candidate should possess a strong work ethic, flexibility, and problem-solving abilities.
Abilities:
- A viable applicant should be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing: deal tactfully, patiently, and appropriately with a variety of people, including children. They should be able to work effectively under time constraints to meet goals and requirements for various deadlines.
- Time management and organization abilities are required while performing multiple job responsibilities with frequent interruptions (answering the phone, leaving to offsite programs etc.). Attention to detail is important as the position will include clerical tasks. Some example clerical responsibilities will include computer work, answering phones, taking messages, answering program questions, taking program registrations etc.
- Excellent computer skills and proficient in Microsoft office and 365 and google.
- Must have knowledge, or ability to learn, of recreation software package and applicable data systems (we use MyRec).
Daily Functions:
- Respond to public inquiries about programs and related events made by telephone, email, fax, quickly and efficiently. Keep meticulous records of data.
- Perform administrative duties having to do with programs including calling participants for cancellations and make-ups, taking messages for programs, completing program registrations, composing, and cataloging correspondence, incidence reports etc.
- Keeps equipment and supplies inventory and assures effective and efficient use of program materials/ equipment within program.
- This position may require, from time to time, being in the office alone. Work should be able to be performed with little or no supervision once trained.
- Performs similar or related work as required, directed, or as situation dictates.
Requirements:
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and have reliable transportation to travel offsite is needed.
- Applicants shall possess a high school diploma or GED; with 5 years’ work experience and /or 2 years of college level education. Experience with children preferred.
- All staff members must undergo a Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) check.
Hours: Monday through Wednesday 8-4, Thursday 8-7, and Friday 8-12 (35 Total)
