- Hours: 32hrs flex 40hrs
- Shift: Day shift; 8:00am-4:30pm
- Location: Oncology – Fall River, MA; This position will float between Fall River and Fairhaven Radiation oncology
We are searching for an Oncology Office Coordinator to perform diversified duties related to patient registration, insurance verification, co-pay collection, patient scheduling, and general administrative and clerical functions in support of the oncology service line. Conduct a complete and accurate registration interview with patients and/or family member(s) to obtain insurance/financial information. Verify eligibility of patients’ insurance coverage for various managed care requirements using Nehan or by initiating contact with insurance companies. Provide excellent customer service by proactively interact with patients, families, and staff in a professional manner that is positive, informative, and friendly. Responsible for own work.
Education and/or Experience Requirements:
- Equal to completion of four years high school plus additional courses or training required.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities with attention to detail required.
- Working knowledge of medical terminology, excellent customer service and telephone skills/etiquette required.
- Prior work experience in a hospital or medical office practice setting in patient access, patient accounts or customer service preferred.
- Experience with electronic medical record, hospital patient registration systems, business office machines, and handling cash required.
- A minimum of one (1) year of related work experience required.
- Prior training in ambulatory practice management preferred.
Must be fully vaccinated against seasonal Influenza and COVID 19 and provide required vaccination documentation, unless approved for an exemption or deferral by Southcoast prior to starting employment.
