Job Summary

This position provides high-level, direct administrative support for the Minnesota State Mankato’s College of Education’s (COE) Office of Field and International Experience (OFIE) to support, assure, and verify that all COE graduate and undergraduate students (teacher candidates) within the COE departments of Elementary Literacy Education (ELE), Special Education (SpEd), and K-Secondary Education (KSP) meet the field and student teaching requirements for their initial Minnesota state teaching license. This position supports more than 1,100 teacher candidates each academic year, and enrollment continues to increase. Additionally, the administrative coordinator is the primary contact and support for 350 mentor teachers (the P-12 cooperating teachers), 40 adjuncts, and 17 Teachers on Special Assignment (P-12 teacher candidate supervisors).
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Customer service skills sufficient to effectively communicate and elicit information with tact and diplomacy and to interpret and explain program information, such as application requirements.
- Database management skills are sufficient to set up and run basic queries, review and analyze data, and perform search queries in order to find relevant information and produce reports.
- Ability to analyze and make recommendations for new or revised administrative practices and procedures for smooth and efficient office operation.
- Skill in training and guiding the work assignments of student workers in order to achieve unit goals.
- Skill in using business English grammar, spelling, and punctuation to write and edit reports, letters, and other documents.
- Skill in developing and implementing administrative and programmatic procedures sufficient to develop and implement administrative and program policies, procedures, and service standards.
- Ability to be attentive to detail to ensure accuracy.
- Experience researching and facilitating solutions to issues that affect broad-scale productivity that impacts deadlines.
- Written and verbal communication skills sufficient to write, prepare and edit materials such as memos, procedures, reports, presentations, etc., and clearly explain, discuss, communicate, and present complex ideas, regulations, policies, and procedures to staff managers and senior managers
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.
- Knowledge of program guidelines sufficient to establish procedures, answer student questions, and prepare correspondence, fiscal, and administrative reports.
- Knowledge of Anthology Portfolio or other online assessment and accreditation management systems.
- Knowledge of higher education (College of Education preferred) terminology.
