The Spencerport School District is currently accepting applications for an Office Account Clerk (12 months) supporting the Business Office.
Candidates must be eligible for appointment as Office Account Clerk, as per the rules and regulations of the Monroe County Department of Human Resources and Civil Service.
Job Description/Typical Work Activities:
- Pay invoices for multiple funds, including athletic officials' vouchers, mileage reimbursement, monthly health insurance, tuition reimbursement, conference expenses reimbursement, and miscellaneous reimbursements/refunds
- Prepare weekly payments and reports for internal claims auditor to audit and approve
- Enter budget transfers and payments in Wincap financial software
- Maintain accounts payables files: check packets, budget transfers, registers, warrants, W-9 vendor files, and health insurance files
- Prepare necessary paperwork for 403b account payments
- Prepare accounts payable files for storage
- Communicate with vendors regarding payment status, issues pertaining to orders, and W-9 tax form requests
- Provide information to external and state appointed auditors
- Prepare and mail yearly 1099 tax forms to vendors and 1096 tax forms to IRS
- Assist in year-end procedures and closing of purchase orders
- Back-up purchasing clerk
- Train new staff in purchasing/accounts payable office
- Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent and District Treasurer
Required Credentials: Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma plus EITHER:
(A) Successful completion of twenty-four (24) semester credit hours, including six (6) semester credit hours in Accounting from a regionally accredited or New York State registered year college or university*; OR
(B) One (1) year of full-time or its part-time equivalent experience in the maintenance of financial accounts and records; OR,
(C) An equivalent combination of education and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B).
*Candidates qualifying under (A) and (C) above must submit at the time of application a student or unofficial college transcript or itemized list of coursework and college credits received.
Preferred Credentials: Successful experience in a professional office environment,
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills,
Highly skilled in computer applications; preferred experience in WinCap and Excel
Highly organized with exemplary time management skills.
Work Year: 12-month assignment; 8.0 hours per day
Salary/Benefits: $16.95 - $19.18 per hour, based upon previous experience; comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental and vision; sick, family, personal, and vacation paid leave time, holidays, and NYS pension.
